It was Merupuri volumes 1-4 by Matsuri Hino. I found them very much entertaining and just what I needed for the darkest hours of the night (into dawn).

I also took a little cat nap of 20 minutes during this time. I have three energy drinks, a ton of books I may still indulge and I just need to pick what I want to read, oh joy. This year has been better than the last, I can say this with some boldness. The books have been better, we added another person reading with us and its been more fun. We have done a few things a little differently, but that does not mean that its bad.

After starting two other books and dropping them I read Poison Study by Maria Snyder. Its about a girl in a medieval type society that is advanced at the same time. She is condemned to death, but gets a second chance by becoming a food taster which is a risk in and of itself. Her journey brings her to learning more than she had before and bringing her some hope for her future. I loved the herione, she was cool, confidant and would not give up. Too often in literature I fail to see that occur, the shaping of a character that is not vapid and selfish.

Next I read Just One Wish by Janette Rallison, this was a very easy read in that it was a simple story about a girl who will go to great lengths to make a wish come true for her brother. While her actions are questionable and disruptive, her main goal is to do this for her terminally sibling. She gets a hot boyfriend out of the catastrophe, so not realistic.

Then I read Kiss the Girls by James Patterson, I had never read one of his novels before so it was nice to see what all the fuss is about. I mean good grief he has numerous novels and the book stores are riddled with them. All in all it was a good thriller, much like the movie. Just going to show you one more time that human beings can be sick.

Books:16
Pages:3973

29 hours

I don't feel like I read that much between my last blog and this one. Since my last blog I have four books under my belt, its not very impressive, but it is what it is. I must say I have had better luck with the books this time around.

I ready A Bird in Hand by Allison Lane, it was a romantic regency book. Purely hog washery, an easy read for a person whose mind is liable to crack under intense pressure. There was nothing terribly refined about it, just a bunch of nobles making fools of themselves while finding mates for life. I laughed my way through half of it.

The next was Black Butler 4, just a continuation of a graphic novel series that I am sold on. I love the series and I can't wait to read the next one. Its really funny while playing on the darker side of storytelling.

Then I read The False Princess, I have to throw in a bunch of fantasy when I read and this is no exception. Its about a girl who was the princess and then was found out to be a decoy and was replaced. To make a long story short she finds out who she must become for the sake of herself and the kingdom. I really liked the book, found the characters easy to adhere in such a way to make it pleasant.

For the fourth I read Swept off her feet by Hester Browne and I was duly impressed. I did not think the novel would amount to much, but I did enjoy the book as a whole set in modern times. The main character was a little in clouds for most of the book, but that is why I liked her.

Books:7
Pages:2008

Nine hours so far

With nine hours under my belt I went through three books. I am so hungry, eating healthy while trying to do this challenge makes one sleepy, hungry and constantly snacking.....hahahahaha, but we live on......

So the first book I read was The priest's graveyard by Ted Dekker. Woah, talk about your emotionally crazy thriller. Most of the book I didn't know who to root for, so I just read it with the detachment one gets where there is no clear hero, but it was enjoyable and breathtaking to the last.

Next I read a charming book Close to Famous by Joan Bauer, now that was good. It was a young adult book with interesting characters, good storyline and I really like the main character, she was a hoot. Couldnt put it down, not even for lunchtime.

Last for now I read darkly dreaming dexter, the first book in the dexter series. I had seen the show before and I wanted to read something that I knew I could pinpoint my interesting. It deviated from the show in a manner that intrigued me. Very enjoyable.
In later posts I will have more to say!!!!

Books read: 3
Pages: 951

Read the Challenge

It has finally begun, the beginning of it all. I am fighting sleep by walking around and energy drinks. My head is feeling a little fuzzy, which kind of detracts from reading, maybe I need to go outside again. Maybe I just need to slow down my reading, I feel like I have covered decent ground so far. I feel like in my last 9 hours and 30 minutes of reading I will read at a good pace and not overdo it. I won't push myself. Ok onto my last hours since I blogged.

I started off my new set of hours with The Agency by Y.S. Lee. Good book, a little predictable. I think the whole regency era woman spy thing is pretty cool. I liked the heroine. That is one of my biggest pet peeves, if I don't like the heroine then forget it, I will not like the book. With that said, the book centers on a girl who is an orphan sentenced to death on the gallows. She is given a second chance, given an education and then becomes a spy for an organization of spy women. It kind of leaves it open for more books. I would read the next one, it was not what I was expecting.

Then I read Past World by Ian Beck. I have to admit, I barely got through it. It was about the real London being destroyed and a fake one in its place. Its like colonial Williamsburg, but you could get mugged or even killed. I'm guessing the rate is low, but there is risk involved. I didn't find it that interesting, there were so many characters I didn't really get attached to any of them. Needless to say I got through it as soon as possible.

In the graphic novel department I read the first one of Emma. Its about a maid called emma who is young, good looking and single. She catches the eye of a young Lord whose governess is now emma's employer. I thought it was cute. There are a lot of them, so its not going to get resolved any time soon.

This next book got me excited about reading!!!!!!!!!! A Posse of Princesses by Sherwood Smith. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!! I absolutely loved the heroine!!!!!!!!! I loved the guy she falls in love with!!!!!!! The plot was very original and so much fun to read!!!!!! I am going to force my sister to read it because it is right up her alley, she will love me for getting her to read this book. I want to read it again actually, that is how much I loved it. Its blue castle good!!!! It is a true rarity, very few books these days gets me this excited. In the beginning it was kind of hard to get into, but once I got used to the make believe words, it was awesome. I was hooked after the second chapter.

Ok, I can do this. I need to say a good long prayer for this last part. I have never stayed up this much in my life in a row. I can barely do 24 hours. Its a miracle I have gotten this far. MIRACLE. Remembering all my other blog posts kind of makes me teary eyed, I kind of miss it already. I have had so much fun!!!!!!! THE NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG!!!!!!

Hours: 38.5
Books:15
Pages: 3914

28 hours later

Well, I've made it this far. After I made my last blog I read part of nightlight with kristen. Then to take some of the strain off our eyes we listened to more hunger games. I think we did it till about 5:30. After that I got through a few more books. I can't believe how much I still have to read and how long I have. Due to lack of sleep, my head feels a little fuzzy, I can read just fine and the sun being out helps. Yesterday I was a little more active, now I like to sit in the recliner and read. I have three energy drinks at the ready, tons of chocolate, I will be fine.

Read third Ouran High School Host Club. Nothing new to report in this area.

Also read The Bad Queen by Carolyn Meyer. Its about Marie Antoinette, I hadn't known too much about her other than common knowledge. This book is supposedly historically accurate, I can see in some ways she was suppressed. It was a little sad, but a good read.

I really liked the next one The Voyage of the Continental by Katherine Kirkpatrick. Talk about intrigue, murder and flighty suitors. This book is set during the settling of the west. A poor factory worker secures passage to Washington State in order to attain a better life. She makes friends, deadly enemies, deceptive people. The herione is almost flighty, but not, she keeps changing her mind. I admit though with all the secrets people were keeping I would have been confused too. Very entertaining, I loved the ending, didn't predict the ending. Course, that might be because I am tired and I don't have the brains to figure it out.

Despite my tiredness, I am excited to pick out my next few books and have at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hours: 28
Books:11
Pages:2746

It can't be 2 in the morning

Finished Lois the Witch by Elizabeth Gaskell. What a depressing read, I had to read a graphic novel to get me out of the funk. It was a short book that focused on a young girl who went to live with relatives in New England right before the salem witch trials occured. This poor girl was abused in the way that nobody had kindness for her. She was such a nice character that it absolutely got to me when she was accused of witchcraft. Its one of those books that was good, but you want it to be different.

Read graphic novel #1 of Ouran High School Host club. I read the first two out of order, but it doesn't matter too much with the story line. They are a nice break, love the pictures.

Listened to audio book for a bit, Hunger Games. I really like that book, got through the first disc. I am a die hard peeta fan, if katniss knows whats good for her she will go for him.

Next book was Lydia by Clare Darcy. Talk about old school, but not. It wasn't really my kind of book. Whenever I got mushy parts it was cute. I am not really into the whole girl goes to big city, makes a splash in high society, strings men along, gets three marriage proposals at the end, thawrts brother from ruining his life and tames the untamable. It was ok, I wasn't in love with it.

Then I read Magic under glass by Jaclyn Dolamore. This one was entertaining, its about a girl in a magical world who falls in love with a machine. It had a little bit of a jane eyre esque feel to it in regards to a certain part. I kind of like it, the fairy/machine that you love and want!!!! I guess you could say it was like AI, except without the creepiness.......

Time, reading/blogging: 18 hours
Books read:8
Pages:1867

It can't be 2 in the morning

Tick tock.....time is ticking....

10 hours later.......almost

So far so good!!!!!!!!! I know I won't be saying this later on, but non stop reading has been AMAZING!!!!!! I have been a reader ever since I could read, (get my schoolwork done so I could get a pile of books from the shelf in elementary school, raid my mom's book collection) and all that jazz.
The first book I read was The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker, I have read many books of his, not really that surprised about what I was reading. Like any good author though he made it not too much like his other books. His books do vary a lot, but I would put them in categories. This one is from his serial killer thrillers. Its his newest one and I thoroughly enjoyed it. He is a Christian author so his novels always mirror that and that is part of the reason I like him so much. This book is about a serial killer who drains the blood of his victims and then glues them to a wall with a veil over their faces. As usual the FBI is on the case and the main guy character named Brad is trying to track the killer. The book takes an interesting turn when a lead takes them to a center that specializes in intelligent, mentally ill people. I really like that aspect because I haven't read many books that go there. Moreover, I feel like he mixes God, the Bible and fiction in such a way that doesn't make it cheesy.

Next book I read was Pride, Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, the prequel by Steve Hockensmith. I find it rather amusing how this genre has taken off to now include made up books that were prequels to literature with a little spice. I kind of like some of the newer versions of the old classics, it makes me laugh. Talk about an interesting book, I really doubt that it was something that Jane Austen would have written or sanctioned. Her writing is so proper with a hint of scandal. Now its turning into full blown modern times writing, there were many things that were inappropriate for that time period to talk about. They try to make an appearance of it still being proper and true to the time period, but they lack in that department. If I don't think of it as having anything to do with Austen then I just think of it as an entertaining zombie book with the names of characters that I recognize. It was gory, it was action packed and it makes me want to learn how to be a ninja. I also want to have a dojo in my backyard.

Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori #2 was my first graphic novel. I had first seen the host club as a english subtitled cartoon show. I loved it, thought it was hilarious. So to throw a little fun in there I chose to read it and get some laughs. Pictures are always fun. The novels are about a group of guys and one girl. They are part of a host club that is run by males except for one. She broke a vase and works for them to decrease her debt. Its funny, just like the cartoon.

I then read Bad Apple by Laura Ruby. It was about a girl with green hair caught in a scandal. She did nothing wrong, she is just an artist with regular teenage angst. It was mildly entertaining, she does come from a broken home, can't really say if that is why she sometimes acts out. I found the characters interesting, a pretty good read. There was a part where she stole a fetal pig from biology and hid it, by that time I was cheering for her. I want to pull a prank like that. I'm too nice.

I am now reading Lois the Witch by Elizabeth Gaskell.

Hours: 10
Books read: 4
Pages: 1121

Start of the 48 hour

It's finally here, the two most harrowing days of my life......ok maybe not that.
